My first quality blog post

I've been learning about what goes into a quality blog post. When I share my blog post it helps me get better at writing. This was a bit tricky for me because there were quite a lot of things to remember. What do you think makes a blog post engaging.

I really like learning things about volcanoes

I really like learning about volcanoes

Volcanoes begin deep within the earth. Hot, molten rock called magma collects far underground. Forces below it crack the underground rock pressure pushes melted rock upward through these openings. The molten rock explodes from the opening or flows out.

ANIMALS

                                      ANIMALS BY KAYLEE

I think that we should be great to animals because people just give them away and others band animals that way you should bring them to CPA for help and they find another person to look after the animals. We should treat animals like how we want to be treated. Some animals are just like people. Animals can be different. An animal has a mum dad. Some animals have fur and others don’t. It is pretty cool learning about animals. Animals can be tiny or big. Some animals can have 4 legs or 2 legs and some have wings also others don’t.

My speech from last year

Hi my name is Kaylee my speech is about Earth.

The Earth is the third planet from the sun. Earth was formed

over 4.5 billion years ago and is 4.535 years old. It is 149.6

million km away from the sun.The Earth is green and blue,

the blue is the seas and the oceans and the green is the bushes

and the land. The Earth is the only planet known to harbour life.

Earth is not the largest planet it is the 5th largest planet. Only 5%

of our oceans and seas have been explored. People have  been

exploring our planet and are finding out new facts.Earth is our

very own planet. Earth goes around the Sun once a day every

day. The moon does not have oxygen but Earth does have

oxygen.I like Earth because it is a really good planet to live on

and  it is the only planet to live on. Earth is 40.075 km round.

There are 195 countries. NZ has just over 4.7 million people.

The population of the world is 7.5  billion people.

China has the most people living there, 1.4 billion people.

India is the  second with 1 billion people.

Vatican City has the smallest population of 799 people.

Vatican City can be found within Rome, but is a stand alone state.

My speech is about ducklings and ducks

Hi I'm Kaylee and my speech is about facts on Ducks and Ducklings.

Ducklings are baby ducks. They have soft feathers that are called down. Some are yellow, black, brown and white. Ducklings can not fly, until 1 month old then can fly.

Ducks have webbed feet, their webbed feet help them swim. They can not feel the cold water. Some are born tiny and others are born big. Ducks live near water like rivers, lakes and creeks. Ducks make their nests out of grass and leaves on the banks of the water where they then lay their eggs. Their eggs take 28 days to hatch.

A male duck is called a drake and a female is called a duck or a hen. There are about 48.4 million ducks in the whole world. Some ducklings live in trees or on the ground close to the water. Their mother teaches them how to swim.

Sometimes ducklings get lost so they go to another duck. At times if they do they can get killed.

Ducks have a bill that helps them pick up small fish in the water and on land they eat worms, insects and snails. Ducks have hard beaks that help them eat.

Ducks have a bill there is another way to call a bill it is a beak. Ducks grow new feathers and the new feathers do not get wet. Ducks spend a lot of time in the water.

Some ducks have mixed colours on their feathers. Ducklings swim fast in the water. Ducklings run very fast.

Ducklings can be pets, they can be so friendly if you look after a duckling from a young age. Most ducklings live in the wild.  A group of ducks is called a flock. A duck has about 14.900 feathers or more.

Ducks like to swim and they waddle. You can eat a duck egg. There are 13 different types of ducks. Some types are: mallard, marbled duck, spotted whistling duck, white faced whistling duck and wandering whistling duck.

Ducks can not have more than 12 ducklings. Ducks swim in freshwater. Ducks do not have teeth. Ducks are always smiling.

You can feed a duck some grapes or Cooked rice or chopped lettuce or birdseed or other grains.

Ducks love to get muddy at times.

Ducks still need to be clean at times too. Ducks can have friends, sisters, brothers,Aunties, uncles, mum and dad.

There can be a big flock. Ducks have ears but we can not see their ears. Duck eggs are bigger eggs than chicken eggs.

Things about my dog

           THINGS ABOUT MY DOG

My dog is called Kaizer, Kaizer loves to get the water when you try water the plants. Kaizer is a English staffy and he loves to run around with you. Kaizer has mixed colours on his fur.

Making chocolate fudge.

When Mum and I made chocolate fudge.

We started by washing our hands and drying them, we next got out the ingredients. There was butter, milk ,sugar, coco power, vanilla essences. First we buttered the glass dish for fudge to go in when it was ready. We put the sugar, butter, milk and  coco powder in the pot. And we put it on the stove  to boil for a few minutes, we had a glass of water to drop some when the fudge was ready to mix it and add in the vanilla essences. Once it was thick we put it in the glass dish so it could set. When it cooled down I put it in the fridge and later on my Mum helped me cut the fudge up.

Getting wood with dad.

GETTINWOOD WITH MDAD.

The other day we went with my dad to the bush to get a little bit of fire wood. It was a nice day out in the bush, so quiet. Here's a photo of my dad, Maliah and I up on the side of a hill, we had to climb up there.

Family day.

My family and I went to the beach, it was a nice sunny day. We hadn't been to the beach in a long time. We even got to play at play grounds and we had a picnic lunch. We made home made ham buns, had chips, biscuits, baking and drinks. Kane even went down the slide and on the swing but with dad.

Stop entry into the West Coast.

I think putting roadblocks in is a good thing so it stops people that don’t live here coming
in because if they are sick they will spread the virus if they have it. I also think that only the people that deliver us what we need should be the only people that can pass the roadblocks. The roadblocks should be up till the virus has stopped spreading. The shops and schools could open if they did this too. We could all be safe on the West Coast.

LOCK DOWN IN NEW ZEALAND 2020.

On the 24th of March 2020 our Prime Minister said New Zealand was going into level 4 lock down in 24 hours time. Because of a virus named Coronavirus also known as Covid -19. It originated from Wuhan, China. The Coronavirus was spread from animal to human. It has spread all around the world to 210 countries and territories. It has been reported a total of 2,994,958 confirmed cases of people having the virus in the world. There have been 206,997 reported deaths. We in New Zealand have had 19 deaths, hopefully no more. Since the lock down started shops and schools had to close, while it was level 4. We’ve had to stay at home in our own ‘bubbles’. The only businesses open were essential services, being the gas stations, supermarkets, doctors and pharmacies. We’ve had to do our school work from home, online and the ministry sent some children home learning packs. Our class has morning meetings via video chat every week day, we get the weekend off like normal. We’ve enjoyed being at home, spending time together. We do miss our other family members and friends, we know this is not forever. It's just to stop the virus getting out of control and it seems to be working. We’ve had low confirmed cases lately. Yesterday we moved down to level 3. That still means we stay at home and keep our ‘bubble’ small.

Written by Kaylee, Maliah and help from our mum.

MY MATHS THAT MUM GAVE ME

Monday morning in our house

Monday morning in our house.

On Monday morning at our home, my Dad made us omelettes for breakfast. They had eggs, cheese, onion, ham, salt and pepper in them. He fried up the ham and onions then he mixed all the stuff together and cooked them in a hot pan on the oven. Then he flipped the omelette in half and cooked it for little bit more. When our omelette was done cooking he put it on plate and we ate them, they were yummy.

Movie Dumbo

About the movie DUMBO I watched.
The Dumbo movie is about a small elephant named Dumbo. He was born at a circus. Dumbo has big ears. When he first was in the circus people made fun of his ears and that made his mum elephant not happy she came into the circus really mad, then the guy that was mean to the elephants came in yelling at her. That made her even madder she made   the tent fall down and squash that man that was mean to her.  The mum elephant got sent away and dumbo had to stay. dumbo was so sad. A boy and girl that were sister and brother were in the tent with dumbo they played with a feather with dumbo and saw Dumbo could  fly for the first time with his big ears. At the next circus dumbo got stuck up a ladder and there was fire. the girl ran and climbed up the ladder to give dumbo  a feather so he could fly but she fell down the ladder into a pool of water. He ended flying and everyone got to see. He became famous. One time during a circus he flew away  to see his mum, a boss man came and took him away from his mum. Dumbo was really sad again. His circus family decided they would save Dumbo and his mum and set them free. So much happened before they were set free together but you'll have to watch to see what happened and where Dumbo and his mum ended up...
